London, Greenwich By Jayson Lilley

Contemporary artist Jayson Lilley works at the forefront of printmaking practices, incorporating painting and collage techniques into his process. His work is known for its urban and architectural focus reproducing iconic structures from the metropolis. His love of modernist, Art Deco and Brutalist architectural design is infectious, bleeding into his own work which is often stark and minimal, with strong impact: stripped back palettes - often concrete shades of grey - complement bold compositional techniques. 'London, Greenwich' depicts the view from Greenwich Observatory, with Queen's house majestically poised in the centre, while the iconic London skyline rolls out beyond. Lilley creates a beautiful fusion between stark monochrome and flashes of technicolour, filling sections with bright greens, blues and reds for a deliciously Pop Art collage aesthetic. To finish the print, Lilley covers the sky with a sheet of gold leaf, for iridescent texture and tonality: a beautiful touch to this celebration of the city.
