To the Lighthouse, Ile de Res By Lucy Farley

To the Lighthouse, Ile de Re is a signed limited edition silkscreen print from British contemporary artist Lucy Farley. Lucy works in situ in this case on the beach watching the tide coming in and surrounding the lighthouse in order to capture the drama and force of the changeable elements at sea. She sketched directly onto large sheets of drafting film on the sand in front her and then used these in the construction of the layers of the final silkscreen print.  She has a strong connection with the West Coast of France where her parents live on an Island and I she was brought up on boats her whole life sailing with them.The title of this piece is the same as a novel by Virginia Woolf, and the methods Lucy used to create the work is reminiscent of Woolf's stream-of-consciousness style of writing.
